School Format

 

The invited speakers will give one-hour lecture on their topic of expertize and every lecture will be followed by half an hour of discussion with the students.

Two coffee breaks per day will be provided by the staff of the guesthouse.

At the end of every day a general wrap-up discussion will be led by one of the students of the organizing committee.

On Wednesday and Thursday afternoon participants will have the chance of presenting their research with short presentation and discussion.

An ice breaker reception with food and drinks will be offered on Monday evening, and one school dinner will take place during the week.

On Friday a field excursion along the Maggia river basin will be led by one of the speakers.

 

The school is funded by the ETH Board and organized by PhD students working in fluvial-related projects (see Contact page).

 

The school will provide in total 2 ECTS credits.

The first credit will be awarded to the students for their attendance and active participation to the school (by engaging in discussions with experts and colleagues and presenting their work with a short presentation).

The second credit will be given for the preparation of a poster related to one of the topics discussed during the school. Posters can be set up by single students or groups. Posters will be evaluated by the invited speakers.
